Alexis Baró

Alexis Baró is a Juno Awards nominated Cuban-born trumpeter, composer, and arranger whose work bridges tradition and innovation. Based in Toronto since 2001, he has built a prolific career spanning more than 200 recordings and collaborations with global jazz icons. His warm tone, technical brilliance, and lyricism define a voice rooted in Afro-Cuban heritage and contemporary jazz expression. His 2025 release, Afrokando, marks his debut as a big-band arranger and represents a major creative leap. The album revitalizes the Afro-Cuban Big Band tradition through a modern lens.
Baró has performed with Herbie Hancock, Paquito D’Rivera, Michael Bublé, Andrea Bocelli, and Omara Portuondo, among others. A classically trained musician from Havana’s Amadeo Roldán Conservatory, he is also a dedicated educator whose workshops and masterclasses across the Caribbean and North America underscore his role as a cultural ambassador for Cuban music.
